The Inti Raymi or Feast of the Sun, was the most important feast in time of the Incas. It was celebrated with occasion of the winter solstice -the solar new year- for a town which main cult object was the god Inti (the sun), in the plaza of Huacaypata in Cusco. The religious importance, festival ceremonial, social and politics were such that the party was extended in the whole Tahuantisuyo. The Inca Trail: Part of the 14,000 miles of roads built by the Incas in South America, this is Peru's most famous trekking route and possibly one of the most spectacular in the Americas. Every year; some 25,000 hikers from around the world walk along the extraordinary 43 kilometers of this stone-paved road built by the Incas leading to the unassailable citadel of Machu Picchu located in the depth of the Cusco jungle. Additional you can take the circuit to Choquequirao, Salcantay or Ausangate route.
